Teaching Assistant Programmes

1. Ready to Teach

We provide training for graduate non-teaching members of staff such as TAs, subject technicians and librarians who want to apply for the Schools Direct route into teaching. The short course consists of two workshops held at both  Swiss Cottage and Vyners High School and are specifically designed to support School Direct applicants.

The optional longer course consists of three extra workshops which focus on teaching skills.

The subsidised cost is £100 per participant.

“1:1 support and having 2 trainers.”

4. SEND in the Classroom Programme

This is a programme aimed at raising awareness of barriers to learning for children with different types of
SEND in the classroom. It is suitable for both teaching and support staff. There are 6 sessions focusing on the
main SEND types such as Autism, Speech, Language and Communication difficulties, Social and Emotional
Difficulties, ADHD, Sensory Impairments and Dyslexia. The programme will help you to identify SEND need
types and offer ways in which we can adapt our teaching to minimise barriers for these children.                                              Appropriate deployment of support staff in the classroom will also be discussed.
